The new Swee-Tone model guitars from the Jackson/Charvel USA Custom Shop were designed first as a valuable tool for the adroit guitar player and secondly as one of the most comfortable guitars any player will ever throw over their shoulder or leg to play.
We started with the question of how do we build a guitar that guitar players would consider their "#1 go to tool". By designing the Swee-Tone guitars using some of the features we have found successful for the last 22 years in building guitars we began our materials selection.
Quarter-sawn Honduran Mahogany was chosen for the 25" scale neck that is our utilized for our neck through the body construction. We take the Mahogany neck then install our
Jackson 2-way truss rod along with custom pultruded graphite rods. The rods are installed in precise locations so as to allow the guitar to perform to it's full potential. As With
Jackson guitars made here in the USA for over 20 years, we use beefy 1/4" thick Ebony fingerboards, a feature that USA
Jackson Guitars are known to use in all their ebony fingerboard guitars. If you ask any professional player about a USA
Jackson guitar the first thing they talk about is the superb quality of fret work that is performed by the builders at
Jackson Guitars to produce wonderfully easy to play guitars. While utilizing compound radius fingerboards for over 20 years, we take special pride in the fretwork we perform on all our guitars. The Swee-Tone models receive that same obsessive detailed work on the fingerboards and frets. All Swee-Tone models have a 10-12 degree compound radius fingerboard, not quite as flat as the other USA
Jackson Guitars. We find this radius to be more compatible for this model of
Jackson Guitar as well as for the professional player who finds the more round fingerboard to their liking. Depending upon the model of Swee-Tone, we use the smaller vintage size fret wire or jumbo fret wire. The necks on the Swee-Tone guitars also feature book matched ebony head cap laminates, bone nuts, pearl fingerboard/side dots, pearloid buttoned Sperzel tuning gears, 22 frets, and a new vintage vibe 3 on a side headstock with a 15 degree headstock pitch. Last but by far not least, are the neck shapes on the Swee-Tone models. USA
Jackson and Charvel necks have the feel of a "broken in and old" comfortable neck. In shaping the necks on the Swee-Tone guitars, we focused on keeping the "well played feel" for which we have a longstanding reputation, yet we gave these models a more vintage slightly V-neck shapes. With our oiled necks the Swee-Tone guitars will be like your favorite old shirt, the first one you pull out of the drawer, because it is "broken in" just right.Quarter-sawn Sitka or Engleman Spruce wings are glued to the Quarter-sawn Honduran Mahogany neck to make up the body of all the models of the
Jackson Swee-Tone. To complete the Swee-Tone bodies we use either Eastern hard rock maple or Big Leaf maple for the tops, depending upon the model. All models of the Swee-Tone feature strings thru the body bridges, fully electro-dag shielded control cavities, anodized rear control plates, and metal jack plates. To compliment the comfortable body shapes and their radiuses, we use aniline dyes for the colors and lacquer for the clear coat. The aniline dyes are hand applied and will allow each piece of wood to be shown in its personal glory once the clear lacquer is applied onto the instrument. As every piece of wood is different and especially using the powered aniline dyes for the coloring, you will find that every guitar will be ever so slightly different in it's final color, even if you buy two guitars with the same finish. Since 1985 we have offered natural body binding and all Swee-Tones feature this type of body binding.
Once we completed the neck and bodies it became time to select the pick-ups that would be the voice for the guitar. In other words, find the pick-up for each model that would be almost "transparent' while bringing an equal quality timbre and sustain through out the tonal spectrum. We choose
Seymour Duncan to work with us in choosing and voicing the pick-ups to model of guitars. The final results from our testing gave us some of Seymour Duncan's favorite pick-ups and several custom made pick-ups. The pick-up combinations are as follows and they are available in any of the four body styles offered in the Swee-Tone line. Every Swee-Tone model features a master volume and two tone controls.

The four body shapes we have in the Jackson/Charvell Swee-Tone line are bodies that make sense not only from a comfort viewpoint but, also from the tonal aspect as well.We choose the Super Dinky body for the starting point on two of the guitars in the Swee-Tone line. The Super Dinky body is one that has been very popular for
Jackson for the last 19 years and offers a minimum amount of actual body size while providing all the material needed to enhance the complete tonal range of a guitar. The Super Dinky body with it's two deep cut-a-ways, comes with either a 1/8" thick, book-matched Hard Rock Maple top or with 3/4" thick, book-matched Hard Rock Maple carved top. Both of these bodies are available in any of the previously listed pick-up configurations. The third body design we offer is our 3/4" thick, book-matched Hard Rock Maple carved top in a single cut-a-way style body. The design of this guitar allows the player to have a guitar that has the vintage vibe about the guitar with all of the previously listed features and pick-up configurations found on all Swee-Tone guitars. As with the Super Dinky body, you have comfortable access to even the last fret. For your perusal please find our list prices attached. Jackson Guitars have brought to your tool box!
