Purchased at Corson's Music in Champaign Illinois. Paid $825

This guitar (solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides) sounds incredible. With the smallish body, you'd think that the low end would be lacking, but not so. Bass response is great. Larrivee quit making the L04 a couple of years ago--I guess because the main difference between it and an L03 was the gloss finish on the 04. The fingerboard on all Larrivees is ebony. This baby is loud when you get on it, and yet crystal clear. I tried out a variety of guitars before making my choice--Taylor, Martin, Gibson, Guild, Yairi. To get the sound and quality of the L04, I would have had to spend a lot more money. Larrivee is one of the best values in acoustic guitars. My L04 is fairly plain looking--no inlay on the fretboard except for the micro dots. All Larrivees have a clear, very thin pick guard which they say helps the top vibrate more freely. Finger style playing is where this guitar really stands out, although it also plays and sounds good flat picked. For my money, this guitar is worth twice the price I paid. I don't think I'd trade it for anything.

The hard shell case is really a cardboard shell. Since the L-size is not an industry standard, getting a true hard case is a problem.

Construction is all solid wood, spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Ebony fret board. Quality is first rate.
