A good friend who is a furniture designer and who has done some fret work for me in the past painted, relic'd, assembled, and set up this guitar. IBM, one of my favs!
For those who want to know...
- USAGC alder body
- Allparts neck 12" radius
- Mostly Fender hardware
- Dimarzio VV pups
- Reranch nitro color, nitro clear
I think it turned out really nice...the finich relicing & checking is as good as I've seen on anything. The neck tint is a bit dark, but I may try to remedy that...and may buff a touch of forearm wear and slap on a logo. Also need to age the plastic lightly.
Best of all, it plays like butter...I so prefer flatter radii! And the tone is quite satisfying. I had this pickup assembly handy so it went in first (also have Fralins and Antiquities to try out...but these Dims sound excellent!). It's a little heavier than I might prefer @ 7lb 15oz, but does not feel awkward, just nice and balanced. Feels solid and rings out nice out nicely unplugged.
Below are too many pics...not sure why my Nikon refuses to focus better. Also have a white guard tele in the works.
