" Jon's guitar is a Fujigen EJ-2 model. It's probably called a "Zimgar"
guitar in the US. It's made in Japan from the 60's, the days Japanese
guitars still had a bit more imagination. Jon has three of those
guitars, the first one is the best sounding. I think the old one still
belongs to Christina in theory. I think she bought it on the street for
$30 or $70. You can kind of find similar models on Ebay at times,
though I've yet to see something exactly the same.
It's very light and has a really fat neck. The pickups are what came
with the guitar and is very unique sounding, it would be impossible to
find something similar sounding from regular guitars.
He tunes them in drop D, which is standard tuning with the low E string
dropped a note to D (D-A-D-G-B-E). Strings are 011-050 I think, he
hardly let's anyone apart from himself put strings on them, I've done
it twice and it was HARD, takes a lot of getting used to. "
