But these groups, often, do not stay for a long time on the scene metal, so that they are a little known. Either they go out of themselves, or they have disputes with the justice (Burzum, Mayhem). But this kind of group is mainly found in Black Metal, but the extremists are minority in this style.
But there are also anti-fascist and antiracist groups such as Lofofora in France.
The rest of the scene is neutral, because the purpose of the metal is not really to contest, to criticize or to do revolution, as the punk for example. The metal often wants to express in the music a certain beauty and do musical performances. Because in the metal, the music, through the guitar, is a queen, often, the words are relegated in the background. In brief, the metal is more poetic than it seems, even if, it is necessary to admit it, that is not still noticeable in the first listening …
Another prejudice is that the metal is a wild music, without melodies, with sturdy men dressed in black, with long dark hair and which have a frightening face and they shout in a microphone more that they sing … Once again, I am not going to say that it is false, because it exists well and truly in the metal, but it is still only a minority … Indeed, a lot of kind of metal, such the speed metal, the symphonic metal, the progressive metal, is specialised in beautiful melodies and in the clear voices. Melodies created in the metal are among the most beautiful and the most elaborate in the current musical world. That’s because the metal is very technical, especially at the level guitar (it is in scene metal that you could find a big number of virtuosos of the guitar) and a very big research for melodies. Moreover, in that, the metal gets closer to the classical music, because compositions can last 20-30 minutes and the arrangement and the variation are close to the classical music.

A lot of people also think than the women are in rest in this musical style. Indeed, the men are represented in very strong majority, but great groups have on the vocal place a woman, what, it is necessary to say it, gives a sweeter and more melodic touch in most part of the cases.
A big part of these prejudices come first of all of a misunderstanding and especially the image as the media gives some metal through groups like Slipknot and Marylin Manson. Those pales imitations of the true metal, which are create that with the aim of selling them songs to a maximum of teenagers wanting to be rebels.
And a majority of these fans give a negative image of the fans of metal, an image of imbecile young people who respect nothing and who consider themselves superior. So to judge really the metal, it is necessary to make, as for everything, your own opinion and going beyond what serve us the media. If you want to do this step, you will see another image, who can sometimes be worse than what you considered, but often more beautiful than what you thought at the beginning.
