Erik Brann, guitariste original de Iron Butterfly: (pour moi le groupe qui a inventé le Metal

Guitar : Eric used a Mosrite Ventures Model guitar, all thru his original stint with Iron Butterfly. You can easily find and see him using it on the "In a Gadda da Vida " LP cover, and in the studio and live pics in the songbooks that were released back then.There are live pics of the band at the Atlanta Pop Fest in '69, and he's using the Mosrite there as well, and in " Musical Mutiny " he's playing it also, and in TV appearances it's the Mosrite as well. Every time I saw the band he was using the Mosrite, and in the live photos from the Fillmore I accquired, he's using the Mosrite. I've never seen any pics of him using a Fender Stratocaster until the time of the reformed " Sun and Steel / Scorching Beauty " lineups, years later and on the re-union tour he did use a red Strat. But for the " Gadda da Vida " and " Ball " LP's, it's the Mosrite guitar.
Amps : Vox Super Beatles, the American Thomas Organ made ones not the English AC 100's that the Beatles themselves actually used. He generally used 2 amps, each with one speaker cabinet. I have seen some pics of him with Fender Dual Showmans as well. I never saw him use any Marshalls during his original days with Iron Butterfly nor have I seen any pics of him with Marshalls from that era, those Marshalls on the " Gadda " cover aren't his, but I've since forgotten whose they are,that cover pic was taken before the " Vida " LP came out came ( you might check with Rick Gagnon, as I am sure he'll remember ), and the band at that time was playing second and third on the bill at shows headlined by bands like Vanilla Fudge and Blue Cheer, who used Marshalls, so those could be easily be part of Blue Cheer's amps. He did use a Marshall combo amp on the reunion tour. But anyway, on the 'Vida " LP and the " Ball " LP also, it's the Vox Super Beatle Amps.
Effects : His reverb and tremelo effects came from the Voxx Super Beatles. His echo is actually a Vox " Echo Deluxe " unit. You can see a real good shot of it in the studio pics from the " Ball " sessions in one of the old songbooks. It's similar to an Echo-Plex and the Watkins " Copi-Cat " but were said to be a little " brighter sounding ". He did also use a Maestro
Echoplex and a Binson Echo-Rec as well, but the Voxx " Echo Deluxe " was his main echo, and that's what it sounds like he's using on the " Gadda " LP and certainly on the " Ball " LP. On the re-union tour he had a rack mounted unit I can't remember the name of, but it was pretty effective. He used a number of different fuzz boxes, and I've seen pics and saw him using all of the following : Vox Tone Bender, Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, the Mosrite Fuzz, and an imitation Fuzz Face that was more dome shaped but sounded just like a Fuzz Face. Also those Vox Super Beatle Amps had a built in distortion/fuzz effect too which I'm sure he also used sometimes. My guess on the LP is that it's either the Vox Tonebender, or the Fuzz Face,as those were the fuzz box of choice at the time, and the sound he's getting is that Vox Tonebender / Fuzz Face sound. As for wah wah pedal, that's the Vox, most likely an original Clyde McCoy Model Vox Wah Wah.
