Announcing "UKZ" – the definitive musicians' band, formed by keyboard and
electric-
violin legend Eddie Jobson. Returning from a self-imposed 27-year retirement
from band
and touring activity, the reclusive progressive-music pioneer and `UK'
co-founder set out
to find the same caliber of next-generation musicians for the new UKZ project
that would
equal or surpass the talents of his previous colleagues and collaborators—an
impressive
list that includes Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Phil Collins, John
Entwistle, Ian
Anderson, Simon Phillips, Terry Bozzio, Allan Holdsworth, and Tony Levin.

Jobson—who was born and raised in the Durham area of England—has hand-selected a
truly international dream-band of virtuosos from around the world:

Aaron Lippert—a citizen of Belgium, but born and raised in New York—the former
lead
singer and songwriter for Columbia recording artists Expanding Man.

Trey Gunn—a Texas native, currently residing in Seattle—a ten-year veteran of
King
Crimson and the leading exponent of the Warr touch guitar.

Alex Machacek—from Vienna, Austria—an award-winning guitar prodigy and composer.


Marco Minnemann—from Hannover, Germany—a drumming phenomenon of unparalleled
virtuosity.


Fittingly, for an international 21st-century band that formed on the internet,
the group are
working together digitally, exchanging music and video files electronically from
their
respective cities. Their self-titled debut album is slated for release in
February, 2008, and
the "One City World Tour" special-event premier concert will take place on
January 25,
2008 in Los Angeles [details to be announced].

Also at the L.A. concert will be the world premier of Tony Levin's "Project
Sticks," with stick
player Michael Bernier joining Tony, along with drummer Pat Mastelotto (King
Crimson).

moi je connais pas UK, alors leur reformation, tant mieux pour eux

Merci pour l'info. La reformation d'un tel groupe mérite une attention particulière et on ne manquera pas de comparer cette nouvelle formule avec l'ancienne.
C'est sans doute la qualité des compositions qui pourra leur permettre d'approcher (ou non) le niveau de l'UK mythique des années 70.
Pour l'interprétation, je ne vois pas comment les guitaristes cités pourront rivaliser avec l'inimitable Allan Holdsworth. Je ne connais pas tout l'oeuvre de Trey Gunn, mais ce que j'en ai entendu ne pas pas beaucoup enthousiasmé (notamment avec King Crimson, mais peut-être parce que l'évolution du groupe me fait regretter l'époque de "Red" par exemple). Je ne connais que de nom, honte à moi, Alex Machacek, donc prudence.
Un élément "manquant" aussi, le voix de John Wetton qui collait tellement bien avec les compositions de UK.
Enfin, quoi qu'il en soit, m'étonnerait que de tels calibres ne fassent pas quelque chose d'intéressant

Bien sur - à suivre de près donc !!!

Avec la facilité du net aujourd'hui on peut "dificilement" dire que l'on ne connait pas !
