I was listening to the Kohntarkosz album earlier and i was wondering what equipment you used to create that raw and searing, tone that can be heard on the album?

Could you also tell me how you got to work with Magma?

Nice to hear from you!

In those days I used a Gibson SG with a pedalboard of ( now ) vintage effects which included a Fender Blender ,EH big muff, coloursoud overdrive and AC 30.
As for working with the band, when they first came to the UK i ,in fact ,supplied them with a PA system as their own rig was
still being built in France.
The connection being their manager, Giorgio Gomelsky, who had managed the Blossom Toes previously :-)

Here is a cool rack just done up for Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes. The rack consists of a pedal chain and 4 amp sends and 2 pedal boards as pictured. Also in the mix is 2 Fulltone TTE tape echos and a Fender rev head. All pedals are in loops of 2 RJM Effect Gizmos and controlled on the floor by a Axess Fx1. There was a custom Rack Interface made for most of the connections and all amp sends are transformer isolated. There was a additional panel done for all the other connections to the rev and echos along with a extra loop for additional units that might come along. Here you go.

Rich plays through either 1 of 3 Harry Joyce heads or 65 Amps Royal Alberts (not Sohos) into custom 65 AMps 4x12 cabs. The Whammy/DL-4 board sits on the floor to the right of the main board and is used for some crazy 2 octave up effects during part of a jam-I think during Thorn In My Pride. He does not use it for anything else. He does use the FV-500L for some nice swells with Echoplex though. The TTE's have been a mainstay for the past 4 years since the reunion started in 2005. He originally used 1 TTE and marc Ford also used one. When Paul Stacey took over for Marc, the TTE stayed and Paul used it but also had an RE-20 and/or Replica on his GigRig board. I believe that Luther Dickinson also uses a TTE now too. I think the Crowes as a band bought a bunch of them. Rich goes through gear like crazy! He is constantly buying and selling vintage guitars and amps-many through Maverick Music in North Carolina. The range of sounds and the always varied setlists dictate which gear gets used on a particular night. If you have not seen this reunion version of TBC, do so-one of the best real olds school rock bands who are legit. You won;t always get the "FM hits like Hard to Handle and Angels" but what you get is a whirlwind 2-3 hours of classic songs, jams and some awesome versions of covers from everybody ranging from The Stones to Cooder to The Band and on and on.

The DOD is an old FX96 Echo-analog with the same chip as the old Boss DM-2 and it does a nice tape echo replication. He started using that pedal around Lions in 2001.
