Terrible picture, i was in a real rush, you get the idea
I'll take better pics v soon
D
Congratulations!! :-D
Now, you're just one Bill&Becky away from true Happiness ;-)
But dude, i can't find out which L500 nuno actually has in his padauk??! I've seen no evidence to say he has the bill and becky XL500
That close up picture someone posted made it look like a bill lawrence USA pickup => thin blades
Also, if i bought a bill and becky, is it expensive to get someone to replace the pickup???
Merci
He used a L500-
L on his Padouk on 'III sides' (he used the L500-XL on Pornograffitti).
Believe me, the B&B is the way to go, you won't regret it ;-)
As for the installation.. replacing a pickup is very easy (I mean : beginner-easy)... Only 3 wires to solder.
Simply get a soldering iron, let me explain to you how to do it (I repeat, that's very very easy !!) from start :
first, remove the back plates and the strings.. You can avoid removing strings by completely detune them (mak'em loose), then remove the floyd's springs and then remove the floyd unit with the strings still on it... (that's handy for testing afterward...)
Then, unscrew both pickup rings (l500's wire go underneath the '59 neck pickup), and unsolder the L500 (that is soldered on the pickup selector)..
Remove the L500, and unmount it from its ring (using the screw on each side).
Remember the pickup orientation (for instance, when you unmount the pickup, look at the wires on the pickup.. if they are on the left or right)
Mount the new L500 on this ring (better to use the original ring than use the one that comes with the L500 itself)
Then pass the wires under the Neck pickup, up to the pickup selector cavity.
Here comes the soldering part :
The Black & Blue wires should be soldered where it says 'Masses' on the picture
The Red and Green wire should be soldered together and not in contact with anything (use scotch tape or whatever to insulate [
not sure the word is right] them).
The white whire should be soldered to the 'Point chaud L500' spot.
put back the 2 pickups, screw the rings, put back the floyd unit and its springs.. Tune .. Have fun :-)
Seriously.. take your time, do things carefully, for instance, when unscrewing a pickup, note on a paper the pickup's orientation (wires on the left / on the right), the mounting ring direction (usually : thick side on the floyd-side).. There's no way you can do any harm.
I can also explain you how to install a coil-split using a push pull pot (while that's a bit more complicated) and a treble bleed (that prevents the treble-loss when you turn down the volume : very easy mod)
... as you wish ;-)
bon.. Faut vraiment que j’arrête d’acheter des amplis et des grattes !
