Nouvel album de Satriani en Avril 2008

"Greetings from Satriani Central Command Headquarters, or, "the studio" as we like to call it. Today is the first day of recording for the next album release due in April '08. Joining me this time are engineer/co-producer John Cuniberti, drummer Jeff Campitelli, bassist Matt Bissonette, multi-instra-mentalist Eric Caudieux, Zen Master Mike Manning and Mysterious Mike Boden, who shaved his head for the project! S'il est dans la lignée de Super colossal je serais content!

Moi aussi : je trouve que cet album est bien planant avec des musiques qui à elles seules créent un univers.

J'ai remarqué un net retour du hard rock sur le devant de la scène donc j'aimerais un retour en arrière genre The Extremist!

les news sur le nouveau Satriani! ça n'engage que moi mais j'espère vraiment qu'il va enfin réussir à sortir un grand album.. les derniers ça le fait pas trop. A la limite je prefère qu'il en sorte un tous les 2 ou 3 ans mais que ce soit plus profond !

"Guitarist Joe Satriani is near completion on his 12th studio album. While an album title and release date are still pending, tickets for an album-supporting U.K. tour are moving briskly.

"Yesterday was a great day -- we officially finished recording," Satriani tells Billboard.com. "This is definitely a rocking record. We set out some parameters, and when I say 'we,' I'm working with long-time collaborator John Cuniberti, he's engineering and co-producing with me. Jeff Campitelli is playing drums, Matt Bissonette is back playing bass on eight of the 10 songs, and Eric Caudieux came back to do some digital editing and sound design."


Expectedly, the release will showcase Satriani's six-string talents, but will also incorporate different approaches for the guitarist. "I decided once again to push the envelope with how expressive we can get the guitar to be. And how unusual we can get the guitar playing from song to song. It's a record that's eclectic -- we've got some straight-ahead rocker songs," he says.

"For the first time ever, we've got a 15-minute, four-part, really intense song that involves some ensemble playing and some out-and-out jams," he continues. "It has to do with traveling through Asia and western Europe, and trying to reflect the differences of music from some of the more important figures of that area of the last few hundred years musically. I took on some heavier musical concepts to bring to people."

Among the tracks are "I Just Want To Rock" ("I think that pretty much explains it. It's got a crowd of what sounds like a thousand people on it," he says) and "a funny song" called "Professor Satchifunkalous."

With or without an album title, the forthcoming European tour -- which sees Satriani teamed with Paul Gilbert -- figures to showcase many new tracks, and will total 35 dates, nine of which are in the U.K. "We wound up with a longer tour of Europe this time, which is really nice, instead of a shorter run during the hottest season," he says.

The artist will visit South America, Australia and New Zealand booked in the summer summer, with a domestic tour on tap for sometime in the fall. Also in the works is a line of Satriani pedals through Korg and Vox, the prototypes for which were used on the new album. The devices should be available by "the middle of next year," the artist says."

"Joe Satriani has achieved legendary success with his 12 solo albums and three platinum DVDs selling more than 10 million units worldwide. On April 1, 2008, Satriani is set to continue his brand of electric education for the masses with the release of his 13th solo album entitled "Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock" (Sony/BMG). Following the albums release, Satriani will embark on a worldwide tour, kicking off April 30 in Lisbon, Portugal before hitting the European market, Australia, South America and finally returning to the U.S. in the fall of 2008.

"Professor Satchafunkilus" was produced through the creative envisioning of Satriani and John Cuniberti; guiding the musical talents of longtime drummer/percussionist Jeff Campitelli and renowned bassist Matt Bissonette. A special addition to the album’s artist list is Joe's own son, ZZ Satriani, playing the tenor sax.

Je sais pas vous mais moi je sens le groove à fond sur cet album !

Jamais trop écouté Satriani à part Satch boogie que j'aime bien. Donc si ça groove comme ce morceau, je serais bien intéressé par cet album.

perso je ne me fais pas trop d'illusion, j'ai l'impression qu'il est allé au bout de ce qu'il pouvait donner, et que maintenant il n'y a plus de création.. Cela dit sans révolutionner la musique, dans chaque album il arrive à pondre un titre ou deux qui prennent aux tripes, il reste inspiré, et puis toujours avec un grand son de guitare..donc comme pour chaque album de satch j'y jetterai une oreille et même deux..

Yo Fox! ça baigne ? bon moi je suis comme toi mais je me dis quand meme.. après plusieurs albums qui sont en dessous de ce qu'il a put faire avant peut etre a-t-il mit un grand coup sur celui la ? enfin un truc qui n'est pas trop bon signe c'est le line up toujours identique.. je trouve son batteur trop chiant et la basse toujours la parcequ'il en faut bien une...

Comme j'ai déja dit je preferais qu'il sorte moins d'albums mais qu'ils soient plus travaillés.. en plus avec plus de 10 millions d'albums vendus je crois pas qu'il ai obligation financiere de sortir un album par an

j'espère en tous cas qu'il aura un son plus gros, même si grace au passage chez peavey je trouve déjà le son de super colossal et le son du live suivant superbe... Connaissant l'originalité et le bon gout du monsieur en matière de son, je l'imagine capable de sortir quelque chose de grand avec du peavey.
bon ben attendons avril, je pense que j'écouterai à la suite le nouveau cob qui sort dans ces eaux là

Je suis pas d'accord avec vous. Pour moi les deux premiers albums ne m'ont pas plu plus que ça. Et the extremist ou satch boogie (plutot rock) sont des musiques que je n'aime pas.
Pour moi son meilleur album de très loin reste strange beautifull music et son second serait super colossal.
Si dans le prochain le rock est trop envahissant, je risque d'être un poil déçu.
Par contre la 20th anniversary... WWAAAOOOUUHHH ! Si c'est une JS1200 custom, je peux commencer à mettre de côté. Une date pour cette guitare ?

enfin ce qui caractérise satriani, c'est quand même le son d'une autre planète, l'esprit "surfer d'argent".. maintenant il joue comme tout le monde, abuse des plans en pentatonique, et malgré un sens de la mélodie, a parfois du mal a éviter la platitude.
pour moi y'a 3 albums, surfing, flying, et the extremist..
