I can't try anymore, i am in the UK, the BL USA pickup will have to do
Anyway, I am taking in the paddy for a fret dress/setup at Charlie Chandlers in the UK! They have a 'Plec' machine...
Did you guys get your frets done for lower action? I found the action is a bit high. The feel of the strings on the neck was like a standard strat kind of feel.
Also, what strings do you guys use, and what tuning?
I am gonna get it set up for Eb/E flat with 0.09's on it... but i am thinking that might be too thin for Eb... but we will see!
Merci
Hi Beatsmith !
Well, I always setup my guitars personnaly (I have to, since I have something like 18 guitars, having them setup by a professionnal would cost me a fortune).. And on all my guitars, I setup a very low action (less than half a millimeter between the strings and the frets).. I don't see why you would do anything to the frets themselves unless they are misaligned (in this case, yes, a fret levelling needs to be done).
I actually did a leveling job on 2 of my guitars (that's very easy to do BTW), one because the frets were pretty old with bumps all over... Levelling them (with proper sand paper and the appropriate sand bloc) allowed me to properly remove all the buzzing problems.
I also did that to another guitar which had one fret too high, making it impossible to set up a very lowaction without having buzzing notes on some frets... There again, that solved my problems.
But when your frets are ok, no need to touch them to get a very low action ;-)
bon.. Faut vraiment que j’arrête d’acheter des amplis et des grattes !
