Et un petit article sur le PH-350 qui explique notamment pourquoi il peut se montrer très convaincant comme Univibe :

Maxon PH350 Rotary Phaser
Peerless Tone is a Maxon Dealer so for my first order I set out to order a PH350 Rotoary Phasor. However, that this pedal has been discontinued from Maxon's current price list. This awesome pedal is now history due to the fact that the photocouplers used in the PH350 circuitry, both because of obtaining and tweaking these parts to work well, are simply more than Maxon can handle in regard to mass marketing these units. Maxon is no longer shipping these pedals. As soon as current warehouse stocks have dried up and when existing store stocks deplete the price of this pedal will sky rocket.
It really is shame for Maxon to discontinue this pedal. This pedal is not a one
trick pony, like a Univibe or a Dunlop Script or EVH Phase unit (all fine phase
units indeed). The ElectroHarmoncs phase pedal is another good one. However
the
Maxon PH350 takes a low level approach for sculpting various types of phase,
vibrato, and flange sounds into one box. The backbone for this effects are the
photo-couplers that produce the pulsating phase sounds. These photo-couplers give a
very musical wahwah like response that is more lush, rich and full than the Dunlop
Phases. The low level programability of this pedal means you can dial in effects
similar to these other phases, expand on these original sonic ideas, and explore your own phase sounds. SImply put the photo-couplers sound great are are required for the true Rotovibe/Univibe sound.
The Univibe used Photo Couplers (the originals do, Roger Mayers current production
Univibe clone does not use photo-couplers, and I am not sure about the dunlop
clones--I doubt it based on their cost) Fulltone does use photocouplers in his wonder univibe clones. With teh PH350, you can dial in a respectful
univibe or leslie rotating speaker sound with this pedal. I really love the original Univibes or some of the better clones made by FoxRox and Fulltone. The only thing missing in the PH350 that I can tell so far is the chorus effects that the authentic univibes have. IT does do an honest univibe sound and much more, Since this is a low level effect engine that contains the circuitry underlying all these other effects you can pretty much approximate any of them and much more (including the Dunlop Script era phase pedals). This is why this box is so special. I really hate to see it go out of production. The prices are going to go through the roof.
Another great feature of this pedal is that is offers stereo outputs so you can send
a clean signal to one amp and then a wet signal so another. My main amp is a
Marshal Plexi so I send the DRY signal to it and the Wet signal so a Fender Super.
That way I reclaimed the sound of my Marshal and the effects blended from the
Fender. Not ideal maybe but it preserved the Marshall tone while adding the
effects. THe effects sounds truly awesome this way Especially rotary effects as a
rotary cab can be more or less emulated. But rather than simply emulating effects
of the past this box allows you to come up with many great sounds, all vintage and
analog in characteristic. Sure you can well approximate the all the most popular
phases and flanges that came before with this box due to its low level design
however you are not restricted to this. THis is not a digital modeling unit. There are lots of new sounds in this box, all retaining the analog warmth we all know and love.
I just look at this box and its low level design as a way of approximating many
different phase and rotoary effects without exactly trying to nail any given one.
Given the true power of this box combined with ones creativity what would be the point. This is a great example of another Peerless Tone defination. The Vintage Modern effecs and gear. Not just emulating the old classics but taking what made them great and putting them into new boxes that can reach new sonic limits. The Maxon Vintage Line from which this pedal originates is a true to my own Modern Vintage theme.
This pedal has gotten bang up reviews in Harmony Central. Many consider this to be
the greatest phase pedal ever made. I feel like the only other pedal able to
approach or surpass this pedal in functionality and quality is the FoxRox Flange
pedal. ITs the real deal but costs much much more. I sorta got this hoping it
would be a considerable substitute and it , but given the dough I would like to
have the FoX Rox pedal more. The FoxRox can do a bit more and is a bit more low
level programmable. It re4ally can do the Hendrix House Burning Down. I have not been able to get that effect out of the PH350. If you can please show me!
THis is about as honest a writeup I can give on this pedal.
Remember that one of the main premises of Peerless Tone is to bypass ignore the large distributors because there area a lot of smaller companies that can put the extra money, time and care these pedals need to be built to their full potential simply because they work in smaller volumes and do not spend millions in advertising in Guitar Player magazines. This brings me to the next fundamental Peerless Tone adage, I have repeated in these various writings: the best gear is not supplied by the large dealers such as Fender or Gibson. But the guy next door who puts a lot more effort in the gear he makes and doesn't have to worry about production costs for millions of units. These demands placed on the large gear manufactures severely limit the quality of gear they can make. For instance a BYOC Tube Screamer is going to far outshine a Tube Screamer reissue from Ibanez costing $250.
