1. The flood has indeed virtually shut down all production at the Gibson USA plant in Nashville. The problem was not only the water itself, but the great deal of gasoline, diesel fuel, and manufacturing chemicals that were carried into the factory by the flooding.
2. The wood supplies were not affected by the flood waters. Very little flooding reached the warehouse facility that the wood is stored in and according to the Gibson rep, they are in good supply for all raw materials.
3. In addition to post-flood clean-up, Gibson USA has been taking the opportunity this down time has provided to renovate certain areas of the Nashville production site: an entirely new and larger paint room is nearing completion,
and they now have their own PLEK machine. Up to this point, all PLEK’d guitars have been sent to the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis for that process.
4. Bodies are being rough cut as we speak. Paint and finish work is scheduled to begin within the next week and the factory should be in full production by the first or second week of August.
